Legendary Italian designer and a towering force in the fashion industry, Giorgio Armani has died

The Italian fashion designer and billionaire died at home on Thursday at the age of 91, as confirmed in a statement by the Armani Group.

Platforms Africa reports that Giorgio Armani, who is one of the most recognisable names in the fashion industry, missed his shows at Milan fashion week over the summer due to ill health.

“With infinite sorrow, the Armani Group announces the passing of its creator, founder, and tireless driving force: Giorgio Armani,” the fashion house said.

“Il Signor Armani, as he was always respectfully and admiringly called by employees and collaborators, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones.
